Times: Wednesday, February 15, 1899, Issue 35753 – Portland, Feb. 14 – Stuart, steamship from London, parted anchor last night during a heavy gale and drifted through the roads, doing considerable damage to barges Ionic, of London, Aquila, of Goole, Pioneer, of Montrose, Ethel Edith of Ipswich and steamer Hampshire; afterwards drifted on new breakwater, where she remained sometime, then floated over and is now ashore on rocks at Preston, near Weymouth. Crew saved. NMI.
