French Sailing Vessel – (LARN & Farr: p117) Rescue by Poole’s RNLB, MANLEY WOOD. Two vessels were involved: French Lugger AUGUSTINE, four crew, were towed into the harbour. JEUNE ERNESTE of Bordeaux was found abandoned and full of water – Poole Harbour.

Times: Tuesday, November 29, 1881, Issue 30364 – “The Jeune Elize, schooner of Caen, from Trouville for Swansea in ballast, is reported from Weymouth to have been wrecked at Osmington. Crew saved” Ship Incident Schooner – Captain Aubey. (LARN) – Near Osmington Mills. Ref. DCC: 01/12/1881.
Times: Thursday, May 26, 1887, Issue 32082 – Lloyd’s Agent at Weymouth telegraphs that the Janiro, schooner yacht, grounded in leaving Weymouth yesterday morning at half ebb and is lying badly. Master declines assistance. The yacht is expected off at high water. NMI. Ship Incident
