Schooner – Cargo, Wheat. (LARN, 1869) – Portland Breakwater. “The vessel was left at anchor in Portland Roads when the Captain, Mate and a sailor left in the ship’s boat for a shore trip, leaving only the boy onboard. The wind increased to WNW force 10, and prevented the crew from returning. At 5.30 a.m. on the Sunday she parted her cables, drifted against the breakwater and sank, drowning the boy.” Also check Southern Times: 18/09/1869. & Lloyd’s Register: 1866 No.84(S) [Times 14/9/1869]
